Students in their final year at public high schools across five states: Lagos, Kaduna, Rivers, Kano and Delta.
What action?
The TotalEnergies Job Shadow educational initiative, launched in 2014, gives young people in the process of choosing a career the opportunity to experience the world of work firsthand and gain insight into the job options available to them.
The initiative is held once a year in three or four public schools, where ten students from each participating school are selected to spend a day on site at TotalEnergies. Here they are introduced to the work environment through a range of activities, including talks from affiliate representatives, role-playing, quizzes and a tour of TotalEnergies’s facilities. Each student receives one-on-one or grouped mentoring from TotalEnergies employees to discuss their career options. The young people then write an essay on their experience and winners from each school receive educational tablets and other prizes.
What impacts?
Since 2014, 210 young people from 16 public high schools have taken part in the day-long event.
